„DESIGN LITHUANIA 2015 / LONDON“: Lithuanian design presented in festival „Clerkenwell Design Week“

May 8th – 21st, four members of Lithuanian design forum participated in international festival Clerkenwell Design Week. During the festival more than 300 design brands were presented and the audience reached 32 thousand.

It was the first time when Lithuanian companies presented their production in this prestigious festival. Lithuanian exposition was held in authentic XIX century building, in ex-prison premises.  In 36 sq. m. area 13 pieces of furniture and lighting were presented. JSC „EMKO“ presented furniture of young designers I.Malafej and A. Sukarevičius: chair „Naivi”, reading chair, the winner of Red Dot award – writing desk, and a carpet designed by Lithuanian designer living in Italy. JSC „Sedes Regia“ presented their recent work and collaboration with designers –  furniture collection created by Japan designer was presenter. One of the most recent brands, Lithuanian designers team „IND“ exhibited paper pulp chandeliers with the impression of concrete and  the clock of unique design. In Lithuanian display there also were presented JSC “Kitaip” chair “Pirst”, which had one Lithuanian contest GOOD DESIGN prize.  Every company represented at least one Lithuanian designer. All the objects presented were made in last five years.

Quite conservative British furniture industry requires some input, that’s why “DESIGN LITHUANIA” expositions are presented there in London not for the first time. Last year members of Lithuanian desig forum participated in “100% design” exhibition, in 2013 – design works presented in London design festival. National display of Lithuanian design recently could be seen in Minsk (Belarus), Brussels (Belgium), Riga (Latvia), Helsinky (Finland) and Cannes (France).
